Big Sur Engagement (Lexi & Dallin)
How do I even begin to tell you all how amazing of an engagement shoot this was. Such a young and beautiful couple full of energy and exploration. To start off, this day we were supposed to be completely rained out. We fully expected to shoot in the rain, even buying a clear umbrella to add some dramatic effect and moodiness to the shoot. Turns out, we had different weather in store for us. As I arrived to the shoot, there wasn’t a single drop of rain. It was almost as if the day was meant to happen.
So, lets get to Lexi & Dallin. Like previously mentioned, they are such a wonderful young couple. They were winners of one of my previous engagement session giveaways. I could tell initially they’d be a great fit just off of their energy. I must admit, I was hoping to get some shots in the water, and they were already two steps ahead of me. “Do you think we can go in the water?” they asked. Which made me so very happy inside because that’s exactly what I wanted to do later on in the day. This day was full of laughs.
I’m just going to sprinkle in this small creative shot that I did, which in fact ended up being one of Lexi’s favorite photos from the day. (At the moment she has also changed it to her profile picture). Every time I look at this picture, it actually feels like it could be from out of a movie. Lets transition to the beach shall we?
My absolute favorite part of the day :). Remember how earlier I told you that the weather worked out perfectly for us? This is what I meant. I mean do you see that sunset light that broke through the clouds??? Absolutely insane. Better than anything I could’ve hoped for. As you’ll see, I also like to capture the in-between moments of our journey together. The session is as much about the adventure as it is posing all cute. If you look at that second to last picture you will see Lexi laughing as the ocean decided to throw a huge wave that reached all the way to me and got me soaked up to my knees. (I wasn’t planning on getting wet this day) but it was more than worth it. I also forgot to mention, the way down to Garrapata Beach was an interesting one. Have you ever gone down a staircase, but the last 20% of it was missing? Me neither… until that day :). Although, I’m not completely mad at it. It did add some unexpected twists to the day.
“We highly recommend Tanner! Not only were the pictures beautiful, but they captured who we are as a couple. Personalities and our love for each other. He made us feel extremely comfortable with every step! The whole shoot felt like a giant adventure. ”
